Focusing on the adopting digital technologies to fuel business growth and create connected communities has seen sub saharan Africa make strides over the past decade despite the fact that there is a lot of potential for growth in terms of connectivity.Having deep know how about East and Southern Africa markets, I have witnessed digital adoption greatly benefiting the people in the the two regions, especially the youth, digital entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises and even population with the lowest income. My hope is that by becoming more connected, African countries would provide more opportunities for business growth to these communities and move holistically as the continent towards the digitalised economies.

For example Digital Kenya’s desired digital economy outcomes includes increased wealth following as a follow on to improved gross national income, enhanced productivity and improved standard of living. The greater usage of ICT across all levels of society will no doubt fulfil majority of African countries aspiration of achieving a middle income nation status by the year 2025.However, the challenge for the near future is to create an ecosystem that promotes the pervasive use of ICT in all aspects of the economy to connect communities globally and interact in real time.Moving forward, seems like African countries will continue to overcome this challenge by providing platforms for discussion and info-sharing across all states in the continent to encourage the adoption of digital technologies.
