Static-X Frontman Wayne Static Dead At 48
The American media is reporting that Wayne Richard Wells popularly knowns as Wayne Static has died. Your blogger was beyond gutted to hear about the passing of the best guitarists in our generation. According to media reports, it was a close source of the singer who announced his death.Your blogger first came across the news on Twitter with #RIPWayneStatic an hour ago. As a rock fan, this is hardly shocking news because so many talented rockers have lost their lives through abuse of substance. Even Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix, commented, “addiction is real and takes fools out.” At the moment, social media platforms are awash with truths and half truths about one of the coolest rockers that never really made it big but had some of the greatest songs I’ve listened to. I was only talking with my teenage nephew the other day about him getting a ticket to go see him in one of those up coming concerts. There is little information that was provided other than that Static was was due to set out on a co-headlining tour with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool over the next several months.
I was in the US when Static released debut album Wisconsin Death Trip in 1999 and the album went platinum and still have a copy of the same in my music library. Although according to music history facts they would go on to release five more albums, they called it quit after releasing 2009’s Cult of Static, and afterwards Wayne Static launched a solo career. Four years ago, Wayne Static released his only solo album, ‘Pighammer’ which was also his first and then went to tour under the name Static-X again in two years ago with members of his solo backing band but pulled out due to Static’s undisclosed health challenges. Wayne Static was a great guitarist, singer and keyboardist but for those who came to know him the other day know him for his signature hairstyle, which was spiked up to stand on end.Its shameful that condolences from all over the hard rock community have been pouring in on social media and mainstream media but few close to him bothered to save his life from substance addiction. He was one of my idols when I was younger and to be precise your blogger was a huge Static-X fan back in the day.RIP Wayne Static and thank you for many years of inspiration and amazing music. Contador Harrison and this world will miss you. I’d like to send my thoughts and condolences to Wayne Static’s family and friends during this difficult time.
