Marijuana smoking might change the way users walk
Smokers of marijuana walk differently according to a study by Australian scientists who found preliminary evidence that cannabis use alters the way people walk. The University of South Australia research, published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence, found those who smoke cannabis tend to move their shoulders less and elbows more as they walk.Marijuana work by changing the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain, which are important in movement. The scientists said more research was needed to see if the subtle changes in walking observed in the study became more apparent with ageing and increased cannabis use.The scientists compared 22 cannabis users to 22 non-drug users in Australia. Those who used the drug had consumed it on more than five occasions and had no history of illicit stimulant or opioid use. The differences in gait were small and found in people who smoked a light or moderate amount of cannabis. Some changes were so small it was impossible for a specialist to detect. “The results suggest that history of cannabis use is associated with long-lasting changes in open-chain elements of walking gait, but the magnitude of change is not clinically detectable,” the study says.As more countries are moving towards decriminalizing marijuana, the study authors are calling for more research to be done on the impacts of the drug.Marijuana is hash and hashish oil that are made from the plant Cannabis sativa. It’s one of the most commonly used illicit drugs in the world.
From scientific evidence over the years, Marijuana has lots of negative effects that are very harmful to smokers health and overall wellbeing.Marijuana is made from the plant’s dried leaves and flowers is the most commonly used form. It’s also known as blunt, dope, pot, grass, weed and joint among others. It may be smoked in a joint like a cigarette, or through a pipe or bong. You must not drive under the effects of marijuana. There are also synthetic forms of marijuana, which are made using chemicals. Marijuana is a depressant drug that slows down the messages to and from smokers brain. The active ingredient in marijuana is tetrahydrocannabinol. Marijuana normally make smokers feel relaxed, happy and chatty, and may lead to hallucinations if a large dose is taken according to scientific material available.Marijuana has many negative effects. It causes slower reflexes, poor coordination and concentration, nausea, glassy eyes and increased heart rate and appetite.Regular users can get lower sperm count, chest infections, irregular menstrual cycle and lowered sex drive. Users of marijuana can become dependent. There is also some evidence that marijuana can produce psychotic symptoms in people with a family history of mental illness. It can also make psychotic symptoms worse and harder to treat if smoker already have a mental illness like schizophrenia. Marijuana users can have social and financial problems, and don’t do as well in education. Problems are more common for people who start using marijuana at early age, and for people who use it regularly.
