Justin Bieber set to become the most followed person on Twitter
Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber is set to make Twitter history this weekend when he is forecast to surpass Lady Gaga as the most followed person on the micro-blogging website. Twitter Counter, which tracks and analyzes Twitter usage, said few moments ago that, according to its algorithms, the Biebs will overtake the Mother Monster around 21:23 GMT on Sunday. Lady Gaga had 33,159,886 followers and Bieber 33,102,814 shortly before 21:00 GMT today. According to some sources, one of my favorite female pop singers has seen her popularity on social media websites wane in recent weeks. Before Lady Gaga took the mantle as the most followed, Bad Romance hit singer took it from another pop singer Britney Spears. Britney lost the number one spot to Lady Gaga in August 2010.
The ongoing battle between Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber is not the only one among the top singers with ton of followers on Twitter. I was reading the list of most followed people on Twitter and Katy Perry is not far behind Bieber and Gaga because she currently has 31 million followers. Rehab singer Rihanna is also in the mix with over 27 million followers and from look of things they have the capacity and popularity to snatch the crown from Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber as anticipated this weekend. The most followed individuals on the micro-blogging site are folks in the entertainment industry although there is an exception in Barack Obama, currently the fifth most followed on Twitter with about 25 million followers.
