Australian rock band ACDC have announced Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose as their new singer following news that Brian Johnson is unable to tour because he is suffering from hearing loss.Rose’s entrance into ACDC was first reported by radio station WNNX in Atlanta after the singer was spotted with the band in the city. This was confirmed few hours before Axl Rose was to take the stage with Guns’n’Roses guitarist Slash at the Coachella festival in California as part of a reunion after more than two decades. ACDC, who broke off a North American tour last month after saying that Johnson was at risk of permanent hearing loss, said Rose would make his debut with the band on a 12-show European leg starting on May 7 in Lisbon.Rose is known for his soaring range and raw emotion will then return to North America for the arena tour of the reformed Guns N’ Roses, with the 10 postponed ACDC dates in the United States to be rescheduled later.”ACDC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years,” the band said in a statement.”We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing.”

Johnson has been quiet in public and has reportedly voiced dismay at his swift exit.According to media outlets, US comedian and radio host Jim Breuer is said to have spoke to Johnson, who felt “kicked to the kerb” by his band-mates and did not believe his hearing problems were as serious as announced by the group. Johnson aged 68 is known for his punishing vocal style but he is not an original member of ACDC.The Englishman joined in 1980 after the death of original singer Bon Scott, and made his debut on the Back In Black album, which has sold more than 50 million copies. Over a week ago,Axl Rose took to Twitter to announced that he had broken his foot. “This is what can happen when you do something you haven’t done in nearly over 23 years, ‘Internal Fixation,’” Rose tweeted, referencing his broken toe. The cryptic announcement came along with a video that featured a 60-second explanation from Rose’s orthopedic surgeon.“Axl underwent an open reduction internal fixation…right now he’s in a cast, and we’re limiting how much weight he can put on it,” his doctor said. ACDC’s European tour dates where Axl Rose will be the lead singer are 7th May Lisbon, Portugal,10th May Seville, Spain,13th May Marseille, France, 16th May Werchter, Belgium, 19th May Vienna, Austria, 22nd May Prague, Czech Republic, 26th May Hamburg, Germany, 29th May Berne, Switzerland,1st June Leipzig, Germany, 4th June London, England, 9th June Manchester, England and 12 June Aarhus, Denmark.
