Tomorrow’s Melbourne Cup will be one of the most-watched sporting events of 2017 with 163 nations and territories expected to watch with estimated audience of 750 million tuning in to the race that your blogger is excited about. The live broadcast and live streaming audience across the Melbourne Cup Day across the Seven Network is expected to increase when considering and adding the live streams. The increase in live streaming alone is in line with its expectations of year on year growth. A Seven Network official that your blogger was able to reach says that in individual TV markets, the audiences is outstanding. In Melbourne alone, an average audience is expected to be in excess of 900,000 viewers who will watch the race, with the audience peaking at above 1,000,000. The annual Melbourne Cup festival is in high gear as the greatest city in Australia is filled with Cup fever. All across Melbourne, there are people full of spirit enjoying the fashions, colourful excitement and atmosphere that goes hand in hand with Cup week but for three and half minutes from 3pm local time, viewers around the around are expected to watch 11 international riders race 12 of Australia’s finest for the AUD$6.25 million Cup.Today in build up to tomorrow’s race, thousands of fans are expected to line the streets of Melbourne for the annual Cup parade. As usual, Melbournians and tourists will wave their flags and snap photographs as jockeys, trainers and past Melbourne Cup winners make their way along Bourke and Swanston streets in Melbourne’s central business district.

When I was young i remember the procession of children in silks, bagpipe players, and the flags of the countries represented in the Cup and i guess the same applies to the tweens and teens attending the event.Melbourne cup is such a great event in a great city, so hopefully all folks attending will also be fully entertained irrespective of their age. According to Melbourne cup organizers, four cruise ships with a record 8720 passengers docked in Melbourne for the race while tens of thousands of visitors have flown into Melbourne for a festival expected to contribute more than USD $350 million to the Victoria’s economy, more than USD$38 million of it from spending on fashion and other goods. On the other hand, analysts have predicted that betting will reach more than USD$130 million, up from estimated USD$120 million in 2016.After Katie Noonan sing the national anthem, the starting gates fly open at 3pm Melbourne time and focus will be on the only female jockey in the race, Kathy O’Hara, who apparently is excited to get on board Single Gaze. O’Hara is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Michelle Payne who became the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup, riding outsider Prince Of Penzance to victory two years ago although Marmelo, ridden by Hugh Bowman has been touted as the favorite to win. Actually, Marmelo, if he or Wall of Fire wins, will make history as the first British horse to get the cash on Cup day. Despite all the excitement, its sad to note that the last time an Australian-bred horse won Melbourne Cup was Shocking, eight years ago. According to details available, 11 out of the 23 horses are internationally trained but only three are authentic Australian horses in 2017 Melbourne cup race namely the Single Gaze, Boom Time and Amelie’s Star.
