2012 Hackers conference in Malaysia

September 16, 2012

All roads lead to Malaysia next month for the eagerly awaited Hackers conference that will feature several peripheral events t.More than 42 of the conference’s most popular speakers over the last decade have been invited for this year’s event, which is taking place from Oct 8 to 11. Cybersecurity luminaries such as John “Captain Crunch” Draper, F-Secure chief research officer Mikko Hypponen, Mozilla Corporation’s Lucas Adamski and Chris Evans of Google’s Chrome Security Team are among the names expected to address the hackers at the conference. A Capture The Flag competition has 10 teams signed up, ready to battle head to head in a 32-hour game.

This year’s conference promises to be the largest one in the series to date in Malaysia and entire southern Asia region. The activities planned include an iOS and OSX security panel discussion featuring members of the iPhone Development Team and iOS Dream Team as well as seven technical training sessions on the first two days, followed by two days of triple-track talks. The CommSec Village peripheral event will feature showcases from open-source communities and various organizations, including an expanded lock-picking demonstration by members of TOOOL USA -The Open Organization of Lock Pickers. With only 1,010 seats available, I bet this event will be a sold out.
